YOKKAO 49 First Female Bout Announced: Meg Corwell vs Rhona Walker
The countdown continues for YOKKAO 49-50 which is just three weeks away to fight night on 8th August in Bolton. We are pleased to announce the first female bout for the double-event: Meg Corwell vs Rhona Walker.
Both Corwell and Walker will be making their promotional debuts on YOKKAO 49 and we expect them to go all out to make an impression at the University of Bolton Stadium.
Corwell trains and fights out of Liverpool’s Fortitudo Muay Thai gym. She currently holds a record of 16 fights with 13 wins and clinching several titles along the way. Corwell won the British Championship title in 2015, a European Champion title in 2017 and a World Champion title in 2019. She is ranked UK number 5 and moving up to challenge the number 1 spot holder, Rhona Walker.
Walker brings with her an impressive record of 39 fights and 26 wins. She also has extensive experience from training and fighting in Thailand. The Scottish fighter trains out of M-Mag gym in Glasgow. She is the current UK number 1 ranked fighter in the 52.5kg flyweight division. Walker is also the ICO European champion and is ranked number 6 in WBC in her weight class.
With the UK ranking top spot on the line, we expect fireworks right from the opening bell. Meg Corwell vs Rhona Walker will join other highly-anticipated match-ups at the University of Bolton stadium including jacob Smith vs Tam McCourt, Brian Totty Jr vs Nathan Bendon and YOKKAO 49 main event bout starring Chris Shaw vs Panicos Yusuf.
